Jane Fern Mathers
I started painting in 1998 after receiving a gift of paints canvases brushes and lessons.
I was born in Seymour Victoria in 1961 and grew up in Brisbane Queensland.
I have been trained over the years by respected artist Pir Tareen. Pir lives close to home so it has
been very easy to attend classes. He has paintings exibited all over the world including the Vatican. Pir's landscapes and portraits are alive with light. It's well worth a visit to Pir's website any time.
I've always loved Claude Monet's paintings and the beautiful gardens he created in Giverny.
In 1998 I caught a train from Paris to Giverny, and walked through Monet's gardens.
I went near the end of winter when branches were leafless and massed with
green
buds getting ready for spring.
It was faintly raining on the day - just a mist.

I also love Huldah Cherry Jeffe's paintings. Her subjects portray a lovely era, so gentle.
I love the way she paints, and I've learned a lot by painting her beautiful work:

Gardening is my most enjoyed past-time, and on many days when I set out to paint,
the
garden
lures me instead, and the hours are gone and no painting has been done.
